Church!

Church is about 20minutes away in DeRidder, with about 20 people in attendance Sunday mornings, including kids. It's the only PCA in the area, though, and the people are very friendly. The first picture is taken from the rear of the sanctuary. Today was my second Sunday in attendance, and Fellowship Sunday, meaning I got some real Louisiana cooking, including fried chicken.

Friday night

Fort Polk is in Leesville, which is pretty small. Finding fun things to do on Friday night is a little tricky, but this Friday we found a "club" that had some small pool tables on the side. Here's a BlurryCam shot, complete with classy wood paneling and wall AC unit.

PCS to Ft. Polk

My drive to Fort Polk for my PCS (Permanent Change of Station) was very wet, but I thoroughly enjoyed the drive. I listened to music, Rush and stopped on the way for last visits to Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts. Some shots from along the way.

OBC

OBC (Officer Basic Course) was painful, to say the least. Having to spend three weeks listening to very boring PowerPoint lectures, followed by three weeks of Field training, all the while trying desperately to study for my Internal Medicine Boards, was truly painful. Here's a picture of the on-post housing I stayed in, but I didn't find much I wanted to remember on this trip.

Girls visit SA

Breaking up my end-of-residency blues, two lovely ladies descended to little San Antonio to pay me a week-long visit. We had a good time, saw some of my favorite places and generally wrapped up my three years in the city with a big bang. I especially liked the Shriner parade, including giant spinning zim-zim cap. Thanks girls! See some cool shots here.

More from Rob's Visit

After a relaxing Sunday afternoon of video games, Rob and I hit Schlitterbahn on yesterday. It was extremely fun, except for the part when we went to the new section of the park, where the lines were longest. Today we saw the Alamo and some Missions.

Rob's visit

Robbie's down to visit, and so far we've gotten to alot of my favorite places: the Liberty Bar, Texas Hills State Park and Six Flags Fiesta Texas. Turns out Rob likes roller coasters as much as I do, and we both liked the same ones: Goliath and Poltergeist.

Graduation Party at the Diehl's

Today the Diehls, with Anna, Kerri and others, threw a great graduation party for G and me. The Bocci was the best, though the potato gun and the ice cream cake were great, too.

MedStudy

Spent the last 10days in Dallas at the Omni Hotel, getting daily lectures on various medicine topics as preparation for the Internal Medicine Boards in August. Here's a few shots of where I spent my evenings to get away. Across the street from the hotel, with lots of biting insects and snakes, but a pleasant waterfall. It rained a couple of times while we were there, so the waterfall in these shots is smaller than it usually was.

Texas Open

Sunday, after Infant nursery, I enjoyed lunch with some pals from church. One of them works for Valero and offered tickets to the Valero Texas Open. It was held at the La Cantera Golf course, and it was free, so I went for the last couple of hours. It was surprisingly fun, though my legs were really hurting from SSG White's "Iron Mike" workout from Friday. Anyway, got to admire some great golf on a very nice day. No pictures, though, since cameras weren't allowed.

My Birthday Powerpoint

My Birthday Powerpoint from Zoho Show. It's not really done yet. Sorry, Mom... it's probably not nearly as cute as Sarah's.

G's Graduation

Found Keri at G's graduation today. She had to leave early, so we were sitting in the very back. Click here to see more in the online album.

Golfing

Last Saturday, golfing with G, Dan and his father-lin-law Larry at Riverside Public course in southcentral SA. Click here to see more at the online album.

Army Med Man

And so, another useless site is born. Welcome to family and friends, or the simply curious. Hopefully, this site will ultimately allow others to easily access photos and videos they may be interested in, links to things that might interest those that know me, and perhaps, an easy way to access my schedule.
